About the event

Perched on a rocky spur, the Tower of Moja—first documented in 981—has watched over the Penedès plain for more than a thousand years. It was an advanced defensive position of Olèrdola Castle. Today, this monument—listed as a Cultural Asset of National Interest—remains one of the village’s great symbols and a privileged viewpoint over the surrounding area.

The medieval settlement of Moja grew in the shelter of the tower, with the Romanesque church of Sant Cugat (documented in 1098) and a history shaped by major institutions and family lineages, such as the monastery of Sant Cugat del Vallès and the Copons, Marquises of Moja.

The commented tour will take you back to the origins of the tower: why it was built, what life was like there a thousand years ago, the uses of each floor, and where the original entrance was. It culminates at the top, with a spectacular panoramic view that explains its strategic role by itself.

The commented tour includes access to the tower and the upper viewing terrace.

The tour is organized by Olèrdola Town Council and is free of charge. Places are limited. Booking by email is essential: [email protected]

Tour duration: 45 minutes–1 hour.
