This is what the Òmnia Day 2023 was like

The Òmnia Network organizes its annual gathering for professionals from the Òmnia Network. It featured a talk by Internet expert Genís Roca, the presentation of community projects, and a participatory activity.

The Òmnia Network, made up of 112 Òmnia Points distributed throughout the territory, provides access to digital equipment and facilitated activities. On February 24, it held its annual event, where community projects were presented and a participatory activity was held based on Becoming's Data Control Wars game. The gathering began with an institutional welcome from Carles Campuzano, Minister of Social Rights, who highlighted the need to "bring the Department of Social Rights into the 21st century." He also announced that the Department would strengthen the Òmnia Points in recognition of the professionals "who make their formidable social and community work possible."

Next came a talk by Genís Roca, an Internet expert, about the next social revolution. "Digital rights must be guaranteed through three spheres: access, participation, and privacy," he explained. He also discussed the challenge of channeling participation mechanisms at #JornadaÒmnia2023, stating that "liking a photo is not participating."

This was followed by the presentation of community projects representing the Network's managing organizations:

Fundació Gentis explained the Contes exquisits project, three-word mini-stories for embroidering violence. A collaborative and collective initiative with a large support network of women.

The organization Casal dels Infants presented Donat'+, a European project from the Òmnia Point Betsaida Badalona supporting the employment integration of migrant women with family responsibilities, where their social inclusion is fostered through digital training, language, and social cohesion.

The Associació de Persones Participants Àgora presented 'DesinfoEND', a project from the Òmnia Point at the La Verneda-Sant Martí School for Adults, involving learning through dialogic media gatherings to combat disinformation and promote critical thinking. The project operates thanks to volunteers.

The Colectic cooperative, which manages the Òmnia Point Raval, explained the WEMIN Raval project, which was created to implement a pioneering integration model in Europe for migrant and refugee women, aimed at bridging the digital gender gap in technology while respecting these women's learning processes. Once European funding ended, the organization decided to continue it by bringing it closer to Barcelona's Raval neighborhood through three perspectives: community-based, technological, and feminist.

Finally, Becoming facilitated the collaborative game Data Control Wars, an educational tool intended to address the possible positive and negative effects of data use, as a testing ground for transition design strategies and as a method for identifying some of the myths articulated by society's perception of the technology industry.
