About the event

CV Esplugues, Voleiboom Castelldefels and Club Vòlei Platja Arenys represented Catalunya in the women’s category, while Voleiboom and Arenys will now take over in the men’s competition. Catalan beach volleyball continues its intense national activity with the Spanish U-15 Club Championship, which this week brings together at the Centre Internacional de Vòlei Platja de Lorca some of the best youth teams in the country. The women’s competition featured three Catalan representatives: CV Esplugues, Voleiboom Castelldefels and Club Vòlei Platja Arenys. Of the three, CV Esplugues was the Catalan team that advanced furthest in the main draw, finishing the Spanish Championship between 9th and 16th place. The Esplugues players began by defeating IBINN Digital Fabraquer 2–1 and, in the match to decide first place in Group B, put up a strong fight against CVS Fustes Can Vaquer Sóller, whom they lost to 2–1. In the final draw, Esplugues again demonstrated its competitive ability by defeating Colegio Inmaculada in three sets (21–15, 12–21 and 15–6). In the next round, the Catalan team again took the match to a tie-break against CV Sanse A. Esplugues won the first set, but the Madrid team reacted and ultimately prevailed 2–1 (18–21, 21–14 and 15–12), leaving the Catalan team out of contention for the top eight places. Voleiboom Castelldefels finished between 25th and 28th place. After a difficult opening phase, with defeats against Alicante & Fabraquer and Colegio Inmaculada, the Catalan team responded in the classification matches with a clear 2–0 victory over CV Almendralejo (21–17 and 21–11). Club Vòlei Platja Arenys, for its part, finished between 29th and 32nd place, completing the Catalan representation in a competition that allowed all three teams to continue gaining experience against some of the country’s leading youth beach volleyball clubs. Voleiboom Castelldefels and CVP Arenys take over in the men’s category. With almost no break, this Friday, 14 August, the men’s Spanish U-15 Club Championship will begin at the same Centre Internacional de Vòlei Platja de Lorca, once again featuring Catalan representation. On this occasion, Voleiboom Castelldefels and Club Vòlei Platja Arenys will be responsible for representing Catalan beach volleyball. The first day will be used to play the group stage and begin determining which teams will advance to the main draw and keep alive their chances of competing for the top positions. Catalan participation in this Spanish Championship continues a particularly intense few weeks for Catalan youth beach volleyball, following the good results achieved this summer by the Catalan teams at the different Spanish Championships for Autonomous Community Teams. The men’s tournament will bring a week of U-15 competition in Lorca to a close and offer young Catalan athletes another opportunity to compete, grow and measure themselves against the country’s leading beach volleyball clubs.

The entry Catalan beach volleyball competes among the best U-15 clubs in the country was first published by Federació Catalana de Voleibol - FCVOLEI.
