About the event
THE COLORS OF THE VIOLIN
The level achieved by Bach in his Sonatas and Partitas has meant that for more than 300 years, writing for solo violin has been a challenge for composers. Some have dared to do so, as was the case with Niccolò Paganini, a virtuoso of the instrument, who, with his 24 Caprices, a work of enormous technical difficulty focused on virtuosity and the exploitation of new and brilliant effects, stands at the opposite extreme from the difficulty of Bach’s polyphony. Paganini’s virtuoso scores had followers such as Henryk Wieniawski, Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst or Eugène Ysaÿe…, but the path explored by Bach was something else.
