About the event
Adriana Alcaide and Walewein Witten, two musicians with extensive careers and international experience, will make their contribution to the very special XXIV Bachiana of the Stagnum Festival. Together with Bach Collegium Barcelona, they will present a program featuring gems from J.S. Bach’s instrumental works. The program includes a pair of sonatas for violin and obbligato harpsichord written during the Cöthen period, showcasing the great technical, expressive and creative richness of both instruments. The concert will be completed by the Italian Concerto for solo harpsichord and the Chaconne for solo violin, iconic masterpieces that embody the composer’s genius.
Adriana Alcaide specialized in early music at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag (the Netherlands) and is the founder and concertmaster of Bach Collegium Barcelona. She is currently the musical director and lead performer of the Händel and Friends educational project at L’Auditori de Barcelona.
Walewein Witten studied harpsichord and fortepiano at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag with Jacques Ogg, Ton Koopman and Stanley Hoogland. On the fortepiano, he performs solo repertoire on historical pianos. Since 2005, he has worked as a répétiteur and assistant conductor at various opera houses in Germany, including those in Düsseldorf and Berlin.
