Concert “High On Fire”

Poblenou doesn’t do subtlety, and neither does High On Fire. The Oakland sludge metal trio plays Sala Razzmatazz on August 5, 2026. They’re bringing their Grammy-winning wall of noise into one of Barcelona’s most reliable rock venues. If you know the band, you already know what you’re walking into. If you don’t, this is a fair introduction.
Who is High On Fire
High On Fire formed in 1998, out of the ashes of Sleep. That band gave doom metal its slow-motion blueprint, and High On Fire took it somewhere heavier. Matt Pike’s guitar work still carries that DNA, but the newer band moves faster and hits harder. Because of that shift, they picked up a Grammy for Best Metal Performance early on. Decades later, they’re still touring behind records that sound urgent rather than nostalgic. This isn’t a legacy act playing it safe. Instead, expect volume, sweat, and a setlist built for a room that can take a beating.
What to expect at Razzmatazz
The show runs in Razzmatazz’s main concert hall. It’s part of a five-room industrial complex, built inside a former engine factory and textile warehouse. The building is worth a look even if metal isn’t your thing. Raw brick, exposed pipework, and a scale that swallows sound instead of choking on it. High On Fire’s set typically runs 60 to 90 minutes, so it’s not a marathon night. Doors open well before the band takes the stage, so there’s time to grab a drink first.
Razzmatazz hosts everything from indie pop to techno, but its main hall is where the heavier bookings land. Because the sound system is built for exactly this kind of low-end punishment, it holds up under a band this loud. Bring earplugs if you’re precious about your hearing. Nobody there will judge you for it. In fact, plenty of the crowd will be wearing them too.

Sala Razzmatazz sits at Carrer dels Almogàvers, 122, in Poblenou. This Sant Martí district neighbourhood has spent the last decade turning old factories into studios, bars, and venues like this one. It’s not a tourist strip, and that’s part of what makes it work for live music. As a result, the streets clear out fast after a show, without the usual crush of a city-centre venue.
Metro access is straightforward. Bogatell on L4, the yellow line, is a five-minute walk. Llacuna, also on L4, gets you there in five to ten minutes. Either stop puts you within easy reach of the venue. A taxi or rideshare works too, especially if the show runs late and the metro is winding down for the night.

Why it’s worth the trip
Barcelona gets plenty of festival-sized metal bookings, but a proper club show in a room built for the genre is a different experience entirely. High On Fire at Razzmatazz means close proximity to the band and a crowd that showed up specifically for this. Meanwhile, there’s none of the logistics that come with a stadium date. No long walk from a metro on the edge of town, no security lines eating an hour. If sludge and stoner metal are your territory, this night doesn’t need convincing. If they’re not, it’s still a chance to see a Grammy-winning band up close. The room is small enough to feel the amplifiers in your chest.
