About Compota de Mañana
Compota de Mañana is a Barcelona-based Afro-Latin music act working with rhythms and traditions drawn from the African diaspora in Latin America. In other words, the approach is contemporary — the reference points are traditional, but the presentation is not museum-style preservation. The live show is built for dancing, festive in character and open in its interpretation of the source material.
Additionally, the act performs live rather than DJ-style, which matters in this context. The Afro-Latin tradition is built on percussion and ensemble playing, and a live format delivers that differently from a curated playlist.
The group’s most recent album, Cuestión de Tiempo (March 2025), pushes the project further into hybrid territory, folding flamenco phrasing into Cuban rhythm structures and urban production. The record features collaborations with Cuban vocalists Mayito Rivera and Alexander Abreu, alongside Telmary Díaz and Yeray Cortés, and was mixed by Orestes Águila and Javier Rae. Following its release, Compota de Mañana was selected for the official WOMEX showcase in Finland in 2025 — one of the most competitive stages in world music programming, and a clear signal of where the group sits within the genre right now.
Festival MASiMAS
MASiMAS is a Barcelona summer programme running from April through September 2026 across six venues, with a focus on alternative and world music. The festival places acts that would typically appear in smaller specialist settings into rooms with more capacity and better production. For world music and experimental acts, that upgrade in conditions is meaningful.
The Compota de Mañana show is in Razzmatazz 2, a mid-size room within the Razzmatazz complex. The main room handles large-scale electronic and rock; Razzmatazz 2 is considerably more intimate and better suited to the scale of this kind of act.

Sala Razzmatazz is at Carrer dels Almogàvers, 122, 08018 Barcelona, in Poblenou. It is one of the city’s most active live music venues — five rooms under one roof, open most nights, running from large-scale acts in the main room to smaller club nights and live shows throughout. Access to Razzmatazz 2 is from the main entrance on Almogàvers.
The nearest metro options are L1 Marina (around 10 minutes on foot) or Glòries (about 8 minutes). Both connect well to the city centre. Late-night transport in Poblenou is reliable.

August is a good month to catch this kind of show. Much of the city’s regular music programming goes quiet in summer; MASiMAS deliberately keeps the calendar active. A late Saturday concert in a well-run venue, at an accessible price, with music you are unlikely to encounter many other times in the year — that is what the festival does well.
