Inés Alonso & La Zarzamora

Festival de Música Antiga dels Pirineus. With Inés Alonso & La Zarzamora, we will explore some of the richest musical landscapes of the Iberian Peninsula between the 16th and 18th centuries, in an intimate dialogue between voice, viola da gamba and plucked strings. The programme combines anonymous and popular songs—some born in courtly settings, others rooted in oral tradition—with works by prominent composers of the period. The recercadas and diferencias reveal the art of variation and improvisation, while the vocal pieces, of sublime simplicity and charged with emotion, evoke stories of love, absence and desire. Catalan songs such as El mariner, La dama d'Aragó and Margarideta intertwine with gems of the Renaissance and Baroque in a repertoire that reveals the power of the human voice as the centre of musical expression.
