About the event

Memory and martyr are words that share the same root. Punishing those who make us remember is all too common. To have memory is to re-member, to return to the heart or to insist on what the heart says. To remember is to listen to the heart, to relive and give meaning to what has been lived, felt and desired. Often, however, a self-serving narrative seeks to erase memory by rearranging data and stitching together information, highlighting some events and ignoring others, imagining outcomes that may be more acceptable to our conscience. And I do this to myself and to others, and it has always been done to all of us, everywhere.
Nevertheless, can there be memory separate from the perspective of the person remembering? If we share a perspective, will we come closer to sharing a memory? If different perspectives enrich us and are in fact essential to the existence and survival of a community, can we consider the richness of a plural memory? Bringing into accord a memory shaped by diverse recollections gives us a past and offers us a glimpse of a shared future. No memory is devoid of relationships; every relationship shelters the memories of those who build it: memory is born from something shared that, through remembering, gives us meaning.
From August 3 to 9, performances, workshops and talks.
