The quintet led by trumpeter and composer Estefane Santos presents a vibrant and contemporary approach to samba jazz, incorporating Afro-Brazilian rhythms and a modern acoustic jazz aesthetic. Formed in Barcelona in 2024, the group debuted at Jamboree and has since pursued an active career between Europe and Brazil.
The project highlights diversity and the prominence of Black women in instrumental music, bringing together identity, original creation and a contemporary perspective on Brazilian jazz. Its repertoire is based on compositions by Estefane Santos, recorded for her upcoming album Resilience – Samba Jazz, scheduled for June 2026. The works combine precise arrangements, collective improvisation and a sound that engages with samba, contemporary jazz and Brazil’s multiple rhythmic roots.
