About the event

Step into a small settlement with more than a thousand years of history, documented as early as the 10th century, where the vineyard landscape and stone tell the story of the Penedès region’s past. This heritage route, organized by Olèrdola Town Council, visits Viladellops’ main sites on an itinerary filled with stories, family lineages and medieval defenses.

The visit begins at the chapel of Sant Joan, a church of Romanesque origin linked to major monastic institutions and military orders. Next, we will stop at the medieval tower, a 10th-century fortification that served as a strategic point within the surroundings of Olèrdola Castle.

The route continues at the documentation center, where we will discover the legacy of the Desvalls family through an exceptional collection that helps explain the country’s history. Afterwards comes the surprising carriage room, featuring a unique piece decorated with Italian-inspired paintings and bearing witness to aristocratic taste and ceremony.

The route concludes at the Viladellops winery, where the site’s winemaking tradition connects with the present, bringing to an end a visit combining heritage, landscape and memory.

The visit is part of the heritage routes organized by Olèrdola Town Council and is free of charge. Places are limited. Booking by email is essential: [email protected]

Duration of the visit: 1.5 hours
