About the event
. The Festival Sons dera Garona celebrates its fourth edition this weekend, from Friday to Sunday, in Salardú (in the municipality of Naut Aran). It promotes the Occitan, Gascon (the western dialect of the former) and Aranese (a subdialect of Gascon) languages, as well as other activities related to rural life and literature.
This event aims to showcase the culture surrounding the Garona River, which reaches Bordeus, through artists who speak and create in Gascon and Occitan, and whose projects are less represented in the media landscape.
From Friday to Sunday, guided tours of the church and tower of Sant Andrèu de Salardú, percussion, traditional dance and polyphonic singing workshops are scheduled. There will be a craft market, as well as street theatre, among other proposals for all audiences. This will be joined by a wide range of concerts by bands such as Castanha i Vinovèl, Joan Francès Tisnèr with Verd i Blu, Pascal Caumon and Sarabat, among others.
The programme has scheduled the recitals to end at 22.00 hours in order to respect the neighbours' rest. The central hub of the event will be Salardú's plaça Major, as well as the church, two of the most emblematic spaces in this Aranese locality.
This festival, promoted by the Naut Aran council, offers all activities free of charge.
