This quintet faithfully continues the line of styles and interpretations that have filled the vast historical arsenal of the broad Cuban musical repertoire, passing through the guaracha of Ñico Saquito, the troubadour-style boleros of Sindo Garay and Matamoros, the radically authentic sound of the great Compay Segundo, and culminating in the authentic and classic Son.
There are many legendary names in traditional Cuban music, but few who follow in their footsteps faithfully. This is done by a group of Cuban musicians who have sworn eternal love to the island’s most popular sounds, those heard during the first half of the 20th century and many of which have been forgotten in favor of more modern rhythms. This is not the case with the members of this group, who fill their music with contemporary nuances while remaining faithful to a classic sound that continues to seduce those who listen to them.
