XXVII CONFERENCE ON THE HISTORY OF EDUCATION. Social movements and education (19th–20th centuries)

From 21 to 23 October 2026, the XXVII International Conference on the History of Education will be held, organized by the Society for the History of Education of the Catalan-Speaking Countries (a subsidiary of the Institute for Catalan Studies) and the University of Alicante, with the aim of examining the role of different social actors in the construction and evolution of education systems during the 19th and 20th centuries, with particular attention to how groups of teachers, students, families, social movements and public administrations have intervened in shaping the school, civic life and education policies, and promoting critical reflection on the historical relationship between education and society. This plurality of voices and initiatives has helped shape educational institutions and public policies, while also driving transformations in teaching practices and research on education.

The Conference is aimed at researchers, teachers, students and professionals in the fields of education and history who are interested in the critical analysis of education as a social phenomenon.

We warmly invite the academic and professional community to participate in this gathering, either by presenting papers or attending, with the aim of creating a space for dialogue, exchange and the collective construction of knowledge.
